Fun in the Sun Celebration

The revelers included office and direct support employees, their families, people whom CLO supports and their families, and professional colleagues. CLO staff members staged the event at the California State University Sacramento Aquatic Center. In addition to a lake-front sandy beach, the venue included a wide variety of boats—from canoes and kayaks to paddle boats and aqua-bicycles. “This is an ideal location to have this kind of gathering,” said CEO Joan Schmidt.

Young and young-at-heart dove into the water. “It’s cold,” several people exclaimed, “but you get used to it!” then CLO Field Advisor Mark Grassinger was the man of the hour; he escorted a steady stream of water adventurers in his two-seat kayak. Other partiers took to the water in solo kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and aqua-bikes. A few took unplanned dips in the lake as they climbed out of their boats onto the dock.

However, every office staff member had a hand in the planning, setup and clean-up, Co-CEOs included. “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you for the fabulous job you all did to make our ‘Fun in the Sun’ picnic the best ever. You truly exemplified teamwork, from planning to execution to modeling having fun,” said Kathleen.

“For me, our ‘Fun in the Sun’ day was an example of how CLO just keeps getting better and better,” Joan said. “I already have some ideas for next year’s celebration.”
